Purpose of Role

We are looking for a Plant Manager to drive continuous improvement and optimization of all processes. You will oversee all daily operations of production, manufacturing, receiving and shipping while ensuring consistent adherence and implementation of all policies and procedures. The successful candidate must demonstrate they have the key skills to develop and implement processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, regulatory, quality and productivity. This position reports directly to the COO of North American Operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to a competent level. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations

  • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards

  • Drive a culture of high performance and accountability in safety, quality, productivity, customer service and cost

  • Support Condair corporate values and growth throughout the organization

  • Facilitate employee engagement for effective utilization of assets to produce results

  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic company goals and initiatives providing a clear sense of direction and focus

  • Demonstrate a strong floor presence across all product lines in support of processes and implementation of corrective actions

  • Build a trusting relationship with all employees through leadership coaching and development

  • Real time data analysis to improve performance and eliminate waste

  • Own and lead plant safety culture, results, and employee safe working practices

  • Develop and maintain daily production meetings with direct reports to provide clear communication and drive for results

  • Support weekly and quarterly production results and status updates to leadership as required

  • Develop systems and processes that optimize productivity standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets and human capital

  • Always be ahead of employee’s issues by proactively addressing all concerns

  • Be competitive and current by implementing latest production management best practices and concepts

  • Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, human capital, wages, and salaries

  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company’s positive culture journey

  • Accept and embrace full P&L responsibility

  • Ability to build both rapport and respect with the employees, which will drive improved performance

  • Encourages and promotes a plant culture of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing

  • Leads continuous improvement activities, including 5S, visual workplace, cost and waste reductions

  • Meet and exceed assigned production and financial goals. Never accept the status quo, evaluate new processes to achieve business goals

  • Develop and maintain an effective Preventive Maintenance Program

  • Maximize use of in-house resources to complete repairs where possible

  • Flexibility and willingness to take on other projects and duties as necessary

Professional Skills and Competencies:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree required

  • Background in engineering is preferred but not required

  • Minimum 8-10 years plant management experience

  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills: ability to communicate at all levels of the organization from manufacturing floor to board of directors

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

  • Some project management experience preferred

 

Qualifications / Personal Characteristics:

  • Manufacturing leadership experience in a lean environment

  • Good understanding of the lean tools to have the ability to teach, create, implement, and sustain them in a manufacturing environment

  • Proven working experience as a plant manager or equivalent leadership position

  • Strong ability to coach, mentor, develop and lead team members

  • Must possess outstanding communication ability

  • Demonstrate calm in the face of adversity

  • Experience and ability to run a P&L manufacturing business

  • Must possess ability to motivate a workforce

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook

  • Must exercise continuous leadership to focus plant efforts on priorities

  • Must deal with constantly shifting priorities

  • Must be technically proficient to support a staff that can "troubleshoot" mechanical and chemical upsets.

  • An employee in this position works in an environment in which safety, environmental and health concerns may demand constant attention. Strict adherence to Corporate and/or plant policies, rules, and regulations in these areas is required

  • A commitment to carrying out the Company's Quality Policy is required. An employee in this position must focus on customers' expectations, prevent problems, and strive for continuous improvement resulting in improved results for themselves, customers, and other employees

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time at a computer workstation

  • Occasionally lift and carry small loads, less than 25lbs, to organize in-house meetings and events

  • Regularly stand, bend, twist for the purpose of obtaining, reviewing paper documents, or taking measurements when in a field environment

  • Walking grounds and construction sites where the surfaces may be uneven
